Welcome to My Personal Page
Victory Junction is a medically safe, yet fun-filled camp where children with serious medical conditions can just be kids and not worry about doctor appointments or if they will be able to join in on the fun… because at camp they can do ANYTHING! The best part is, no family has to worry about the cost of camp because Victory Junction is always free to campers.
I first learned about Victory Junction my freshman year of high school as a member of our student council. My school was a member of the North Carolina Association of Student Councils and it was the statewide philanthropy to raise money every year for camp. At Sun Valley we didn't want to raise just a little bit of money, but enough money to send at least one child to camp every year and we did. I knew from that moment in 2008 that I wanted to one day work at Victory Junction.
That time finally came in the summer of 2015 when I joined the program staff as one of the theater counselors. My summer was filled with donuts, wish sticks, chasing the elusive sikopotat and making friends with some of the greatest people you'll ever meet. More importantly, I got to spend the summer working with incredible kids who truly showed us what camp was all about. To them it was more than just a week away having fun, but a week to leave their medical condition at the gate and just be a kid. I returned again in the summer of 2016 as a cabin counselor and left just as inspired as I was my first year.
Victory Junction believes that every child, no matter their diagnosis, deserves to just be a kid. That’s why I am participating in Victory Junction’s 14th Annual Run to Victory to help send kids to camp. It costs $2,500 to send one child to camp.
Please join me. Either sign up to participate or donate to my page to help me raise funds. It’s all about sending kids to camp!
